About The School

Windham Elementary School

A. M. Windham Elementary School (Windham) is located in Daleville, Alabama,

approximately one mile from the main gate to the military installation Fort Rucker. Located

in the southeast corner of Alabama, it is one of three schools in the Daleville City Schools

system. All Pre-K through fourth grade students in the system attend Windham.

Approximately 40% of Windham’s 490 students are affiliated in some form or fashion

with Fort Rucker. This factor, combined with a high degree of low socioeconomic status

students, results in a high rate transiency at the school. Windham experiences an average of

21% - 24% student turnover throughout the course of every school year. In excess of 72%

of students are identified as receiving either free or reduced lunch under the federal lunch

program qualifying Windham for federal Title I funding. 51% of Windham students are

White, 35% Black, 11% Hispanic, 2% Asian, and 1% identify themselves as multi-racial.

Daleville City Schools is currently experiencing increased enrollment. Due to increased enrollment,

Daleville Middle School was opened for the 2020 - 2021 school year and houses 5th

through 9th grade.

As of the 2021 - 2022 academic year, Windham Elementary has an enrollment of 490 students served by

38 educators, 6 paraprofessionals, and 8 staff. Our projected enrollment for the 2022-2023 academic year
